Newfane reports WWTP substantial completion, heavy permit activity and winter road prep

Highway Superintendent Jon Miller reported winterization, ongoing lead-and-copper sampling and truck preparations; WWTP Chief Operator Nick Irr said the plant is "up and running" and construction reached substantial completion. Building Inspector David Schmidt said 150 permits have been issued year-to-date, 45 more than last year.

Department heads updated the Town Board on ongoing operations. Highway/Water Superintendent Jon Miller said crews have been cleaning road ditches, finishing mowing, preparing trucks for winter, and planning a final pothole patching next week; water staff are winterizing, pulling seasonal meters and repairing service leaks. Miller said, "we have half of what we need already done and hope to finish in November and be in full compliance" regarding lead-and-copper sampling.
