Commissioners hear road maintenance needs, staffing limits and equipment updates
Smith County leaders discussed a stop sign request, localized blowouts they cannot fully address due to water and staffing shortages, several pending tube installations, and the sale and service status of a new dump truck.

Commissioners addressed multiple road-maintenance items April 21, led by Assistant Road Supervisor Travis Story. Commissioner Kurt Ifland raised the need for a stop sign at R Rd and 300 Rd; Story gave updates on crew work on 230 Rd and said the department faces staffing constraints that are affecting some repairs. "it didn't sell for as high as he thought is should, but it did sell," Story said of the recently sold dump truck, and he reported the new truck is at the shop awaiting a radio installation by Platte Valley.
