Board asks land-use committee to study larger solar arrays

After hearing initial questions about solar arrays that would produce energy for sale (solar farms), the board voted to refer the matter to the land-use steering committee to study potential zoning language and siting rules.

County planners raised early inquiries about larger solar arrays that would not be accessory to a residence but would be siting and zoning questions for farmland parcels. Miss Marshall said some parties have expressed interest in arrays that would produce electricity to sell back to utilities rather than for strictly on-site use, and asked whether the board wanted the land-use steering committee or planning commission to research regulatory options.
