Extension Office introduces new 4‑H agent, previews 'Roots and Shoots' Ag Day

Miss Jones of the county Extension Office introduced new 4‑H agent Jalen Jackson and outlined a series of upcoming outreach and agritourism events.

Jones said Jackson — a local farmer from Keeseville hired in January as the new 4‑H agent — will help promote 4‑H camp and Clover Bud camp and described an agritourism meeting and a farm-to-table event planned later in the season. Jones previewed a "Roots and Shoots Spring Ag Day" tentatively scheduled for April 18 with a rain date of April 22; planned activities include plant sales with the Randolph Henry High School greenhouse, Master Gardeners, library book-sale and crafts, vendor booths, a children's area with face painting and interactive exhibits, equipment displays and agricultural demonstrations. Extension staff described a "roots rewards" stamp card to encourage attendees to visit multiple locations and described plans to collect contact information for prize drawings.

Jones asked the board to help distribute flyers, offer posting locations, and support the event. She also introduced the Extension's community partnerships (library, high school, Soil and Water, farm suppliers and local vendors) that will participate.
