VDOT reports bridge replacement progressing; Rural Rustic funding and short road projects planned for next year

A representative from VDOT (Mister Frederick) updated the board on district projects and staffing: Jeff Gooden was promoted and local staff are acting in the superintendent roles until a permanent appointment; the Route 92 bridge replacement is under construction with work on the Charlotte County abutment and is expected to complete in 2027. VDOT has advertised a scour‑repair project (bid opening Sept. 24) and reported Rural Rustic program funding of about $206,000 for next year, listing Elam Road (0.7 miles) as the first candidate for work and two additional short segments as follow‑ups.
