Crossroads CSB presents emergency-services metrics; same-day access expanding

Representatives of the Crossroads Community Service Board highlighted data-driven improvements in emergency-services prescreening, staff training and the same-day access program during a presentation to the Charlotte County Board.

Doctor Moore introduced the presentation and said Crossroads is focusing on data so the county can better understand outcomes. Kyle Vont, Crossroads' director of emergency services, described a prescreen checklist and quality metrics that show sustained improvement: "We have continually been improving ... we're hovering between 80–90% of the prescreen checklist being completed," Vont said. He added that in a recent internal review of the same-day access pathway, "95% of the time, we met the 10 day goal," and that 93% met a 30-day benchmark for beginning outpatient services after evaluation.

Vont said same-day evaluations are available for psychiatric emergencies on weekdays and that the same-day access program (drop-in evaluations to expedite entry to outpatient care) operates Tuesday through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. He told the board Crossroads is seeking to expand same-day access availability at the Charlotte clinic and that the organization relies on state grants for program support. Board members pressed for local expansion; Crossroads staff said they are working to add days at the Charlotte clinic and to coordinate staffing so more residents may use same-day access.
