Springfield Township’s Planning Commission on April 1 discussed a proactive ordinance to regulate the placement and operation of data centers, emphasizing that the township intends regulation rather than encouragement of such development. Mr. Pantaleo presented resources from PennFuture and the Delaware Riverkeeper Network and said the Municipal Planning Code obligates the township to permit all uses somewhere within its borders, so the focus is on where and how data centers should be allowed.
