County coroner asks commission for $2,000 to keep an extra deputy coroner for 24-hour coverage

At the Dec. 22 work session, coroner Ron Hedgecoke requested the commission amend the coroner budget by $2,000 to retain an additional deputy coroner and preserve 24-hour coverage. Hedgecoke said a deputy coroner is paid $25 per pay period and must complete annual training, and he described the position as necessary for continuous coverage.
