City engineer Mark reported two unforeseen items on the Iowa & Lane Street intersection improvement project: deteriorated asphalt surfacing on the north side that required use of asphalt millings, and a water-main piping discrepancy that required installation of an additional valve. He said millings were chosen because they compact well and retain petroleum binder, making them preferable to gravel for the repair.
