Board reviews spay/neuter voucher usage; staff proposes reducing allocation
The board heard that the spay/neuter voucher program launched in April has attracted many out-of-county requests and about 50 local vouchers used so far; staff proposed reducing the FY27 voucher allocation to match local demand and possibly bundling low-cost rabies shots.

Board members and local providers reviewed the newly launched spay/neuter voucher program and its early usage at the Aug. 21 meeting. Staff and a veterinary provider said many calls for the program came from outside city limits, and usage by city residents has been lower than initially budgeted.
