Mercedes ISD approves insurance renewals and authorizes multiple RFP solicitations

At its May 20 meeting, the Mercedes ISD Board unanimously approved a series of business-office recommendations including renewals and solicitations for employee insurance and benefit services and authorization to solicit proposals for other insurance lines and vendor services.

Actions approved included authorization to solicit a Request for Proposals (RFP) for stop-loss insurance for 2025–26; renewal of RFP#05-17-23-388 for ancillary employee insurance products; renewal of the self-funded plan third-party administrator and PPO network access under RFP#05-17-23-391; renewal of pharmacy benefit management services under RFP#05-17-23-389; solicitation of RFPs for property & casualty carriers with non-renewal notices to current carriers; and solicitation of proposals for child nutrition consultant services for 2025–26. For the stop-loss RFP, "Mr. Hernandez made a motion to approve and Mr. Rodriguez seconded on the motion. Vote was taken. Motion passed unanimously."

Board members discussed the practical impact of the solicitations and renewals on plan continuity and vendor evaluation but recorded no dissent. The actions were recorded as routine business items intended to ensure coverage and provider continuity for district employees and operations in the coming fiscal year.
