The full story
The council authorized the city administrator to negotiate and execute an agreement with a veterinary services provider to supply professional veterinary services, including DEA‑licensed administration of drugs used for humane euthanasia and medical supervision for a part‑time vet tech the council funded during the budget process. City staff said the veterinarian would provide services under the veterinarian's DEA license and that the vet tech would be employed by the city, not the veterinarian. "The purpose of the agreement is mainly twofold. 1, Mr. doctor Gursky would be handling the administration of any lethal drugs that we would have to administer to an animal for the humane euthanasia. ... 2nd part of the agreement, this council approved at the budget time for us to hire a part time, vet tech," staff explained.
