Commission to consider shrinking Planning & Zoning board to address quorum problems
County staff told the commission the Planning & Zoning Board has struggled to maintain quorums; the commission agreed to put a proposal to reduce membership from seven to five on the Aug. 5 agenda and asked the county attorney to advise whether an ordinance or charter change is required.

County Manager Thomas Weaver reported the Planning & Zoning Board has difficulty maintaining a full quorum and brought a request to explore reducing the board from seven members to five. He said the board’s members sometimes stop attending after one or two meetings, leaving the county without a functional quorum. Weaver asked whether the county should amend the charter or handle the change by commission action and said Attorney Bin Minter will research the legal path.
