Commission appoints Chris Christopherson interim Road & Bridge and Solid Waste supervisor

Commissioners told staff that the Road Supervisor, the Solid Waste Supervisor and the head of Special Bridge resigned effective immediately during the week of Aug. 17, 2026. To maintain continuity, the Board amended the agenda and appointed Chris Christopherson as interim Road and Bridge Supervisor and Solid Waste Supervisor effective Aug. 17, 2026.

Commissioner Gordon Wilkerson moved to appoint Christopherson as interim supervisor and said he believed Christopherson had the organizational skills needed for the role. The motion passed by roll call: Wilkerson Aye; Jim Harberd Nay; Nate Marvin Aye. The appointment gives Christopherson the authority and responsibilities ordinarily assigned to the Road and Bridge Supervisor and provides temporary compensation equivalent to the prior supervisor while preserving his existing employment classification and benefits. The acting appointment does not constitute a permanent appointment.

Christopherson agreed to meet with employees about the change and to pursue project-management proposals for Gentry Lane, including contacting Mr. Van Atta for a proposal and reporting back to the Board at the next meeting.

Why it matters: the interim appointment fills an immediate leadership gap in Road & Bridge and Solid Waste operations and delegates short-term project-management and staffing responsibilities so routine operations can continue.
