The Montana State Board of Land Commissioners voted 4-1 on Oct. 20, 2025, to approve item 1025-2, the MT Great Outdoors Conservation Easement Phase 2. Amanda Kaster, DNRC Director, presented the proposal and multiple stakeholders—including representatives of Green Diamond, Stimson Lumber and the Montana Mining Association—spoke during a lengthy public-comment period. The board recorded a 4-1 final vote to approve the easement.
