Agencies report progress implementing SB 25 nutrition panel and hospital/PBM transparency laws

Regulators told the committee they are actively implementing bills passed earlier this session. DSHS said the Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee convened and has formed work groups to define ultra‑processed foods and draft an annual report and guidance for curricula under SB 25. TEA said it will work with the State Board of Education to develop a new high‑school nutrition course and align K'8 health standards; curriculum adoption timelines mean instructional materials will lag initial standards adoption.
