Council authorizes Transportation Solutions contract for striping plan and ADA transition work

Council authorized a professional‑services contract with Transportation Solutions to finalize the striping plan for the city’s edge‑lane roadway project and to provide peer review and ADA transition planning.

Council Member Thomas Gil asked for explicit clarification that the contract covered engineering only and not implementation. Director Perry responded that the contract funds finalization of the striping plan and peer review and that Transportation Solutions is assisting with ADA transition planning and guidance; ‘‘so essentially we’re finalizing the actual striping plan that’s going into the LIP,’’ Perry said.

Council moved to authorize the contract; the motion passed with one recorded nay during the roll call vote. The contract is budgeted from professional‑services funds in the streets/roadway department; staff said a stamped letter or peer review was requested in part because of liability‑insurance concerns and to keep expectations clear with the consultant.

Next steps: staff will execute the contract and Transportation Solutions will deliver the striping plan, peer review letter and ADA documentation to support future implementation work.
