County engineer reports roadwork, chip-seal prep, and upcoming bridge and paving projects

County Engineer Jared Johnson gave supervisors a detailed progress report on secondary roads operations. He said crews were mowing vegetation along paved roadsides and Farm-to-Market gravels in the northwest, hauling Farm-to-Market rock to maintenance districts, and working on gravel surface patches along P64 and P27. He reported work to spray and mow noxious weeds and to repair a shoulder void on 130th Street between 290th and 300th avenues adjacent to a large-diameter culvert; the culvert itself is in good condition though piping along its length will need to be relayed.

Johnson described work on J55 chip-seal from P14 to U.S. Highway 169: crews completed surface preparation including blading, watering and rolling, cored out soft base areas near the US‑169 intersection and replaced them with granular material, and plan to sweep, prime and chip the roadway this week weather permitting; chipping equipment has been moved to Redding. He also reported final plan submissions for project BRS-C080(88)--60-80 with a November letting, ongoing work at the Middle Fork 10 bridge site, procurement for Poe 17 materials, review of reinforcing-steel shop drawings, and that Lotts Creek 10 work could continue into winter depending on weather.
