Union County delays final action on MERA master plan until February
Commissioners postponed consideration of the MERA Master Plan to the February meeting after staff and two commissioners requested more time to clarify parts of the document; the plan includes a forestry component funded through Wallowa Resources and was advertised for 90 days of public comment.

The Union County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 7 voted unanimously to postpone consideration of the county's MERA Master Plan until the Feb. 2026 meeting to allow additional review and public clarity. Commissioner Paul Anderes moved to defer the item and Commissioner Jake Seavert seconded; the motion carried.
