Senior Center flags backup cook shortage, plans LED and restroom upgrades

Kari Silcox presented the Senior Center's quarterly report on July 15, describing program activity (donated food, Meals on Wheels deliveries, local meetings and events) and facility plans. She said the current backup cook will no longer be available after August; an offer to a candidate was declined and the center is asking for ideas or assistance to recruit a new backup cook so the head cook can take sick and vacation days.

Silcox said the center has scheduled LED light replacement and restroom plumbing upgrades with work by Brenna planned for Aug. 21 and a proposed two-day closure (Aug. 20'1) to complete lighting and replace three toilets, one urinal, three sinks and valves. She estimated the total cost at under $2,000. Silcox also described outreach by Bristol Hospice and a tentatively scheduled Alzheimer's conference for Sept. 15, intended as an annual event given local need.

County Court noted Capeco contract arrival and signed status, and the court acknowledged extensive local support for the center's programs. No formal county action was taken on staffing or capital repairs at the July 15 meeting.
