Board hears progress report on Evergreen Elementary construction; GMP 3 to come

The board received an update on Evergreen Elementary construction that characterized the project as "moving along extraordinarily well." The presenter noted sidewalks and utilities are in place, footings have been poured in most areas, formwork is in place and the contractor plans to begin some floor pours and on‑site wall prefabrication soon.

The presenter said the team has executed three contract amendments so far (validation phase plus two GMPs) and that the next board meeting will include GMP 3, which will encompass the full project budget under the progressive design‑build structure. He told the board that 90% construction documents are expected Oct. 19 and that 100% CDs should arrive mid‑to‑late December, and that move‑in and commissioning plans are being developed so the building is turnkey when staff and students arrive.

Board members and superintendent Dr. Wenzel pressed on schedule risk and commissioning. Dr. Wenzel stressed monitoring weather and other unanticipated issues and said the occupancy timeline is tight; the team is "monitoring risk and really pushing on making sure that we can get in there to be able to make the building our own and have that warm feel" when school opens.

The presenter estimated the school will accommodate about 600 students and described remaining interior and exterior finish items to be finalized as 100% CDs are completed.
