Board advances multiple rezoning requests and zoning ordinance updates

Buchanan County's Planning and Zoning work featured prominently in multiple meetings. The Board held and closed public hearings on several rezoning and minor‑plat requests (e.g., Amfahr, Crowell Sisters Farm/Crowell, Raber, Graham, Peyton, and others) and approved those found to conform with zoning regulations. Several zoning ordinance amendments and a comprehensive land‑use plan update were read and advanced through first and second readings during April sessions.

Zoning Director Amber Lorenzen presented legal descriptions, conditions and staff recommendations for each petition. The Board recorded roll‑call votes and attached conditions when approving rezonings: for example, a Perry Township parcel was rezoned to C‑M (commercial‑manufacturing) with a restriction limiting use to mini‑storage units (Resolution 26‑54). Numerous minor plats were approved across the record, and the Board set dates for additional public hearings as required.

The Board also approved a series of procedural and text amendments proposed by the Planning & Zoning Commission to clarify accessory building rules, bulk requirements, and to move wind and solar use references into appropriate sections. Public hearings for ordinance and land‑use plan readings were scheduled and advanced per legal notice requirements.
