Surveyor updates board on multiple drain projects; Hazel Dell bridge replacement fast‑tracked

The Hamilton County surveyor provided a consolidated update on ongoing projects. Staff reported tree clearing on 102nd Street for the Lehi Notch Drain, right‑of‑entry secured at Meridian Corporate Plaza, AF Ingram project substantially complete but with torque/claims outstanding, and J.S. McCarty Phase 3 substantially complete. The Emily Vestal Drain work continues north and is nearing 160th Street; Elwood Wilson Drain contractor is at Promise Road installing structures; Anchorage Drain work is nearing closeout and the HOA was notified of a first assessment expected next March.

On the Hazel Dell bridge, the surveyor said design and permitting work has been accelerated: the county has already begun meeting with designers and stakeholders (Carmel Utilities, street department, highway department, surveyor's office, and park board representatives) and expects frequent preconstruction meetings to move the replacement forward. "We've already had a meeting with the designers and... we're gonna have fairly regularly standing meetings to move this through," the surveyor said. The board acknowledged the need to coordinate with Carmel Utilities and other stakeholders as the bridge reconstruction proceeds.
