Council adopted a resolution to create a code‑enforcement investigator position to strengthen enforcement of dilapidated, burned‑out and hazardous properties. Staff described the role as shared between the police department (for enforcement and criminal aspects) and the city administrator (for administrative paperwork and abatement actions), and said the position will enable faster abatements, liens and emergency actions on unsafe structures.
