Council holds first reading on state-mandated preapproved housing plan program

At first reading the Council considered Ordinance No. 2026-09, which amends the Town Code to implement a preapproved housing design plan program and an online archive for plan sets, pursuant to A.R.S. § 9-461.19. Dr. Jim Johnson and Zoning staff explained that architects and design professionals may submit non‑site‑specific housing plan sets for pre‑review; compliant plans would be listed in the town’s online Preapproved Plan Library to speed permit review.
