Sayre Borough Council met in workshop on Feb. 4 to review plans to replace the Borough's 2000 Pierce fire engine (Engine 2). Assistant Fire Chief Robert Repasky and members of the Howard Elmer Hose Company reviewed the apparatus inventory and said the current Engine 2 is rated at 1,750 gallons per minute (gpm) with a 500‑gallon tank; Engine 3 is rated at 2,000 gpm with a 750‑gallon tank and Truck 1 carries a 1,500 gpm pump with a 300‑gallon tank. Chief Repasky said the proposed replacement would match Engine 2’s pump capacity rather than increase it: "the pump size on the current Engine 2 is 1750gpm and that the new fire engine would have the same size pump."
