Prescott council approves changes to Chapter 635 removing large-scale solar farms as conditional uses
The council voted to adopt Ordinance 05-26, which removes large-scale solar farms as conditional uses in several commercial and industrial districts, adds accessory dwelling units as a conditional use in R-5, and corrects accessory-use language to reference Article X and Section 635-87. The Plan Commission recommended approval 5–0 after a public hearing with no comments.

The Prescott City Council on Aug. 10, 2026, approved Ordinance 05-26 to amend Chapter 635 (Zoning) of the City Code. City Administrator Matt Wolf reviewed the Plan Commission’s recommendations, which remove large-scale solar farms as conditional uses in C‑1 Central Commercial, I‑1 Light Industrial, I‑2 Heavy Industrial and I‑3 Mixed Industrial districts, and add accessory dwelling units as a conditional use in the R‑5 Single‑Family Residential district. The motion to adopt the ordinance (Ruona/Hintz) passed without a negative voice vote.
