Commission demands developer presentation after stalled hotel groundbreaking

Several commissioners criticized the developer for delays after an earlier groundbreaking for a Hyatt Studio Hotel and asked staff to require an on-the-record presentation. The Mayor said the city should not hold multiple one-on-one meetings with the developer and that progress reports should be made in public to create an accurate record. One commissioner called the original groundbreaking "embarrassing" given the lack of construction.
