Committee adopts technical cleanup to Commission on Higher Education code
Lawmakers approved a technical cleanup to higher-education statutes clarifying distribution methodology for the South Carolina Children's Education Endowment and removing obsolete language; committee adopted the cleanup amendment by unanimous consent.

Representative McGinnis presented a cleanup bill intended to remove outdated language from the higher-education code and clarify how certain need-based grant funds should be distributed from the South Carolina Children's Education Endowment. He said the amendment "seeks to clearly define the distribution methodology used by CHE for the need based grant funds" and that the change would prevent misapplication of lottery-funded allocations.
