Mayor Tim Hall read a proclamation formally designating June 19, 2026, as Juneteenth in the city of Walhalla. "I, Tim Hall, mayor of the city Of Walhalla, do hereby proclaim 06/19/2026 as Juneteenth," he said, reciting the historical background including the Emancipation Proclamation and Major General Gordon Granger's 1865 announcement in Galveston.
