Dr. Gohar Azhar, Co‑Director of Cardiovascular Aging Research in the Reynolds Department of Geriatrics and Institute on Aging, briefed the Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Advisory Council on recently developed pharmaceutical treatments for Alzheimer’s disease. Azhar described how the medications work, typical treatment duration, and the clinical criteria used to determine which patients are eligible for therapy. Azhar also raised concerns about affordability and the mechanisms by which scarce supplies might be allocated.
