Stop-sign request at 2nd West & 2nd North tabled; council asks public works and police to study

After testimony from nearby residents raising pedestrian-safety concerns and from others warning of lost handicap parking, the council tabled a motion on adding stop signs at 2nd West and 2nd North and directed public works and police to study the intersection and return with recommendations.

A resident raised safety concerns about increased traffic and high speeds at the intersection of 2nd West and 2nd North and asked the council to consider adding stop signage. Councilmember Todd Thomas said increased traffic since the extension of 2nd Mart warranted at least assessment and perhaps a stop sign to slow vehicles during events. Resident Lana Jenkins testified: "I swear sometimes people are going 40, 60 miles an hour down that road. There's kids out on the road playing."
