The council voted to deny a variance request for 445 Mill Street that would have reduced setbacks to 3 feet on one side and 7 feet on the other. Council members said they were concerned the application did not demonstrate the necessary hardship and discussed an alternative "plan B" that would meet setbacks without a variance. "I am gonna make a motion to deny the application," one council member said during the discussion.
