Engineer briefs board on mapping, Helm schedule and grant requirements for Safe Routes to School

Village engineer Brian Nott told the committee that Lingle Design requested updated water and street maps and that Fehr Graham will supply those files. Nott also said contractor Helm will be digging on Oak and Leet Streets on Wednesday and will start additional work after the Fourth of July; staff noted Helm's bids were higher for water work but lower for street work overall.

Bridgette Stocks updated the board on grants and external funding: she has looked into tree grants but noted the recent donation covers most needs for the right-of-way program; she said Safe Routes to School is being reviewed again but is currently two years out with an estimated $500,000 price tag and that letters of support for ITEP are required before October for each right-of-way easement where support improves loan approval chances. Stocks also said Townline Storm (IEPA) approval is pending and could be delayed until July 2027 if not approved soon.

Staff will coordinate maps, resident notifications (Kory Polhill is handling notices for affected streets) and grant letters of support as part of the next steps on street, water and grant-related projects.
