Rocky Ridge council approves one-year trial park-management structure, appoints volunteer Parks Director

The Rocky Ridge Town Council voted to accept a one-year trial Park Management Proposal on Aug. 19, 2026, appointing Brandon Allred as Parks Director and Sarah Ann as Green Committee chair.

Brandon presented a structure with a clear chain of command (Town Council/Mayor → Parks Director → Park Superintendent → employees/volunteers), defined responsibilities, volunteer coordination, task lists, and quarterly reporting to the council. "The proposal was presented as a one-year trial," the minutes state; the Parks Director position was proposed as an unpaid, coordination-focused role while Benjamin would continue as Park Superintendent responsible for daily maintenance and mechanical needs.

Council members discussed authority and accountability to ensure the Green Committee would not supersede the Superintendent and noted that committees operating with town funds must comply with budget and record-keeping rules. After motion by Council Member Andrew Aagard and a second, the council approved implementation and the named appointments. Benjamin emphasized the new structure must operate within the already-established fiscal-year park budget and noted several ongoing projects (south restroom remodel and a contracted sports court project) would continue under existing oversight.
