Lansdowne’s Environment, Parks and Trees Committee on April 7 agreed to forward a proposed resolution opposing a Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export terminal in Eddystone to the borough council for consideration on April 15. Members heard a presentation from members of Chester Residents Concerned with Quality of Living who described three primary concerns: the risk of catastrophic methane leaks and explosions affecting Eddystone, Chester and neighboring communities; added local air pollution from the liquification process; and the potential for exported Pennsylvania gas to correlate with higher local gas and electricity prices amid an affordability crisis.
