Yemma, language access coordinator at Baltimore County’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, described an office codified in March and a three‑person team that uses Alta for testing and currently approves eight languages for formal testing (Arabic, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, French, Tagalog, Russian and Vietnamese). She said Baltimore County’s program is early‑stage and focused on aligning language duties, job descriptions and compensation so bilingual work is recognized as a formal part of some positions.
