County approves purchase of two 10-wheel dump trucks under Sourcewell contract

The Elko County Board of Highway Commissioners approved the purchase of two International 10-wheel dump trucks equipped with plows and sanders under a Sourcewell cooperative contract.

Dennis Price, Elko County Road Superintendent, told the commission the department had budgeted $375,000 per truck but received quotes that landed at about $376,447 per truck; he asked the board to authorize a modest buffer because chassis lead times and federal emissions changes could push prices higher. He said some manufacturers are hesitant to quote due to regulatory uncertainty starting January 2027.

The purchase was proposed using Sourcewell contract number 33100And26 from the listed vendor (on the record as "Viking Hives"). Commissioners moved and seconded the procurement authorization, and the motion carried by voice vote. The motion record on the agenda capped authorization at no more than $390,000 per truck.
