Community Services Committee backs Fehr Graham engineering contract for 2026 streets program

The Community Services Committee on April 1 recommended that City Council approve an engineering services contract with Fehr Graham for the 2026 streets program at a cost of $98,605. Mayor John Rickard introduced the resolution and the committee approved the recommendation by unanimous roll call.

Alderman Ron Boyer described edits to the draft program that removed a duplicate listing for Walnut Street and reduced resurfacing on Marker Street by one block, which Boyer said “reduced the overall cost by around $92,000 and lowered the engineering costs by approximately $3,000.” Administrator Patricia Diduch told the committee that approving the engineering services contract will allow Fehr Graham to proceed with starting the bidding process; Boyer emphasized the importance of initiating work before snowfall.

The committee voted 4–0 to recommend Council approval (motion by Alderman Herb Santiago; second by Alderman Ron Boyer). The recommendation sends the contract to the full Council for final action and clears the way to solicit contractor bids and finalize the project schedule.
