The board approved on second reading an amendment to the DeKalb County pension code to add a line‑of‑duty death benefit for family members of employees, deputies and officers who die in the course of employment on or after Oct. 1, 2026. The ordinance also clarifies that a participant may not change a designated joint annuitant after pension benefits begin and updates plan provisions to conform with certain federal tax law changes.
