Smith County commissioners purchased a John Deere motor grader from Murphy Tractor and Equipment and said they may buy a second machine after the start of the new year if the 2026 budget allows. Chairman Jim Gwennap reported the purchase during the Road & Bridge special session on Dec. 1, 2025 and the board discussed mechanical/software features and vendor support.
