Todd County approves USDA Wildlife Services work‑initiation document

Todd County commissioners voted to authorize signing a work‑initiation document (WID) with USDA Wildlife Services after agency staff explained the document’s purpose and limitations.

At the meeting the county coordinator introduced USDA representatives and the agency described the WID as a standard permission form that “gives us permission to work on properties” for wildlife responses, including wolf and beaver complaints. The USDA representative emphasized that “this is not a financial agreement at all” and said the WID is revocable by either party.

Commissioners asked about which species the agreement would cover and whether federal protections would affect operations.
