CSISD posts state assessment gains overall, flags 7th‑grade math dip

The director of school improvement walked trustees through STAR and EOC results by campus and cohort, using heat‑map slides to show where performance rose and where targeted work is needed.

He highlighted double‑digit gains at campuses such as Rock Prairie, Pebble Creek and South Knoll and said 11 of the district's 19 campuses improved their overall numerical rating year‑over‑year. "We have campuses miss a distinction by 0.1 on their attendance marker," he noted, underscoring how fine margins can affect distinctions and accountability ratings. He also said College View High School achieved a 100% CCMR score, a strong contributor to that school's overall improvement.

At the same time, the presenter identified 7th‑grade math as an area of concern across the state and locally, attributing part of the decline to advanced students taking higher‑grade tests and to cohort shifts. "We definitely have got some work to do," he said, describing ongoing PD and math‑team work (including August professional development with Jennifer Smith and Tiffany Parkerson) aimed at curriculum and standards alignment to reverse the trend.

Trustees asked clarifying questions about how students in advanced math were tested and whether the heat‑map colors should be adjusted; the presenter agreed to refine the visuals and continue cohort analysis. No action was taken; staff said they will pursue targeted interventions and report back with further details.
