Residents raise concerns about contractor work, lighting, speeding e-bikes and coyotes in Lakeside

During public questions and comments, several residents raised local infrastructure and public-safety concerns. Mark Courtney urged the council to review contract deadlines and deliverables related to the pumping-station contractor. Robert Richardi asked when the remaining streetlights on Lake Tahoe would be installed and when the road would receive final paving; council members said those items are controlled by Lakeside and that staff would contact James Cook for updates.

John Farwell said he “witnessed a lot of wasted time by the pumping station contractor” and reported that the contractor had performed asphalt work and left grading issues. Ginger Marshall said, “there is an issue with electric bikes speeding in Lakeside and that the police do not patrol there anymore,” and added concerns about coyotes in the area. Commissioner Deakins said he would talk to the Sheriff’s Department and contact the HOA about the speeding e-bikes.

Other residents offered services: Earl Demsey of 1st State Inspection Agency offered same-day inspections if requests are made by 9 a.m., and Greg Wilston, a certified naturalist, volunteered to replant vacant spots at Veteran’s Park with native plants at wholesale cost to the town.
