Commissioners approve engineering contract, hear FAA grant update for county airport

The Morrow County Board of Commissioners approved a professional services agreement with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly for engineering services at the county airport and authorized the chair to sign the agreement. The vote followed a staff presentation and a motion to approve.

Jamie, the county’s development/engineering representative, told the board the project is eligible for FAA grant funding and that “that’s an FAA grant funded program, so 95% is funded by FAA.” Jamie said the county is looking to identify the remaining 5% local match and noted that ODOT has historically contributed toward such matches; the county also has local budgeted funds set aside as a possible source.

Separately, the board approved a low-bid construction contract with American Pavement Solutions for taxiway rehabilitation work. Jamie said the county has started outreach to property owners regarding related redevelopment and identified this as a possible public–private partnership involving the land bank, development authority and the village.

The board approved both contracts by roll call. Staff was asked to continue outreach and to report back on match funding options and project timelines.
