Jeff Keller, representing Boxminer, presented a proposal to build a 20-megawatt data center in La Pine’s industrial zone on Reed Road, emphasizing the site’s distance from residences and room for expansion. Keller said Boxminer would pay about $3 million to Midstate Electric before operations and estimated the City could receive roughly $20,000 per month in franchise-fee revenue. SLED Economic Development Director Patricia Lucas told the Council that SLED’s board reviewed the project and that the applicant is not requesting a tax exemption; Lucas cited an $800 million investment figure and said SLED recommended the Council approve a sale of property to Boxminer.
