Senator Archuleta presented Senate Bill 804, the Hydrogen Pipeline Safety Act, saying the measure would designate the Office of the State Fire Marshal as the safety regulator for pipelines carrying hydrogen and require the California Public Utilities Commission to recommend a regulatory framework for hydrogen blends. "For large scale deployment, pipelines are widely recognized as the most efficient, lowest emission, and most cost effective methods of transporting hydrogen," Archuleta told the committee and urged an aye vote.
