Parents and former employees press Board for transparency, updated math curriculum

Several community members used the public‑comment period to press trustees for clearer communication and faster action on curriculum and property decisions. Parent Adrienne Sawyer said it was "crazy" to remove community tenants such as the Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Authority to place the District office in that building and said the process has been "so stressful for the community." Carly Kester‑Strauss, a recently retired district employee, told trustees she is "heartbroken" and urged the district to adopt a current math curriculum, saying existing textbooks are "over 10 years old" and are not justice for students.

Online commenters raised concerns about how a vacant building affects surrounding homeowners and property values. Brian Patrick criticized the pace of action on the District office sale and roof‑top unit replacement, while Mary Porter thanked the Board for taking time to examine issues carefully. The Board did not act on the sale of the District office building at the meeting, though trustees did approve an interlocal agreement for an adjacent parcel with the Town of Minden.
