Residents press council for tougher code enforcement and blight remedies
Multiple public commenters at the Aug. 25 meeting urged the city to enforce codes on convenience stores, apartment complexes and properties with litter and illegal dumping, and asked for better follow-through on tickets and fines.

Several residents used the public comment period to press city leaders for stronger code enforcement in commercial corridors and apartment complexes. Val McGowan and others pointed to persistent litter, oil stains and poorly maintained storefronts on Buena Vista and Forest roads and asked that code inspection or animal-control authorities enforce existing ordinances instead of relying on repeated cleanup spending.
