Visual Architectural Committee unanimously approves Homestead spa plans

The Midway City Visual Architectural Committee approved architectural plans for a new private spa at the Homestead resort during its Aug. 26, 2026 meeting in Midway. Alex LaCouteure moved to approve the plans as presented; Tom Wardle seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

According to the materials reviewed by the Committee, the proposed spa will replace the former Homestead maintenance building near Snake Creek; maintenance functions have already been relocated elsewhere on the property. The facility is described as a secluded, private amenity for resort guests with no event space or general public access, and guests would access the spa through the resort rather than arriving directly at the building. Design details listed in the packet include treatment rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, barrel saunas, and a single-story building designed for year-round use. The architectural palette calls for exposed timber, metal roofing, stone, dark-stained siding and board-and-batten siding intended to complement existing Homestead architecture. Exterior lighting will be dark-sky compliant, using shielded, downward-facing fixtures, and outdoor areas will include landscaping and privacy features to preserve surrounding views. The Committee expressed support, noting the design is consistent with architectural elements previously reviewed for the property. The meeting adjourned at 10:29 AM.
